The Qi Men Dun Jia oracle to use with travels

This Chinese oracle gives a precise mapping of the Chi in the 8 main sectors or directions, for a given time, day, month or year. Formerly used as a war technique to know when and where to attack the enemy or to withdraw, it is now used for business purpose or to enhance personal luck. Historical records show that scholars used the technique during the famous battle of the Red Cliff, as illustrated by a recent movie. Several other occurrences of those techniques that were used to secure power or to win battles have been found in the history of the Chinese Empire.

This is a very efficient technique to be used with travelling, as it involves the concept of directions. When choosing a good time to travel in a specific direction with Qi men Dun Jia, one can expect short or long lasting effects starting after arrival. This is especially useful for business trip of course.

A Qi men Dun Jia plate is made of nine palaces, with the 8 main sectors/directions and the centre palace. It looks like the Lo Shu square with symbols inside each of the palaces. Each palace includes the following symbols:

  • One the 8 Gates
  • One the 8 Stars
  • One of the 8 Gods
  • A Earth Pan (same Stems used in Chinese astrology)
  • A Heaven Pan

Here is a list of those symbols for your knowledge.

The eight Gates are:

  • Du or the hidden door;
  • Jing or the scenic door;
  • Si or the death door;
  • Jing the surprise door;
  • Kai the open door;
  • Xiu the rest door;
  • Sheng the live door;
  • Shang the hurt door.

The eight Stars are:

  • Tian Fu;
  • Tian Ying;
  • Tian Rui;
  • Tian Zhu;
  • Tian Xin;
  • Tian Peng;
  • Tian Ren;

The twelve Gods are:

  • Zhi shi;
  • Teng She;
  • Tai Yin;
  • Liu He;
  • Gou Chen;

The combination of all those symbols determine if:

• The sector is auspicious or not

• It is better to travel or to stay still

• Which purpose can be achieved: contract, relationship, money, legal matter, healing etc.

All the symbols rotate according to a specific sequence for each bi-hour of the day. Chinese people divide each day in 12 bi-hours: 0-1am, 1to 3 am etc. The Qi men Dun Jia board is composed of 1080 configurations altogether, that cover any given time, day, month or year.

For maximum efficiency all the plates can be combined: with a year/month/day and time auspicious plates combo, the good effects can last for years!
