What is the Ming Tang or Hall of Light?
What is a Ming Tang?
This is an important concept in Feng Shui, often overlooked. The Ming Tang (and not Min Tang) can be translated by “Hall of light”. The idea is to have a wide, bright, clean and welcoming space in front of the entrance of your building – house, flat or business. This way you welcome the Chi and “invite” it to gather in your place.
I have seen many times that businesses with a bright Ming Tan and facing the right direction do much better than companies with no Ming Tang. I especially remember a large organic shop in Wellington, New Zealand, and a pub and restaurant in Westminster, London, that were doing very well due to their large Ming Tang amonst other Feng Shui principles. This is true to houses, flats and condos as well as the Hall of Light raises the quality of the Chi the property receives.
When I am hired as a Feng Shui expert to do a Feng Shui business consultation and select new premises in Seattle, Portland or Los Angeles for example I emphasize if possible a place that have a large Hall of Light to benefit the business.
