The Feng Shui: what is it? A definition
Feng Shui (风水) is a Chinese name and tradition that encompasses millennium old techniques discovered in China. The purpose of Feng Shui is live in harmony with your environment, and to boost your life by using the universal energy surrounding and affecting us all and called the Qi, or Chi.
The translation of Feng Shui means "Wind and Water"; the wind carries the Chi and Water retains it, so these two forces at work in nature can represent some aspects of the Chi.
The original name of Feng Shui is actually Kanyu or Kan Yu (堪舆). Kan Yu translate as "the way of Heaven and Earth"; this is actually a better depiction of the techniques used in Feng Shui that uses the energy sent by the other realm (seen through the Bazi and universal Chi) and the landforms, buildings and direction related to the Earth. Feng Shui is really the influence of Heaven and Earth on our lives, as seen through the concept of Three lucks.
Another Chinese term sometimes used is Zedi 择地 (Geomancy).
The point of Feng shui techniques is to convert the Chi emitted by your environment to one that will support you, positively change your life and help you to reach your goals. This mean is achieved by understanding the flow of Chi in your place and then by applying conversion methods that use energetic points such as the stove location, the internal and external water exits, your bed position or the colours surrounding you.
For example, if you are constantly struggling with a lack of relationship, or experience endless conflicts with your partner, it is likely that your house triggers an energy that resonates with your charts (Bazi) and affects your relationships (stove in Northwest area for example). A Feng Shui residential consultation will help you to invite harmony in your relationship.
Another example: if your business is slow despite your excellent service and marketing, it is likely that your premises do not catch the right energy for the company. A Feng Shui business consultation will help you to turn it around. The process is to find out what type of Chi your business needs; what type of Chi the place receives and then to harmonize both so your business is actually supported by the location.
A Feng Shui expert analyzes the Chi through the surroundings and the internal setup and transform your house or your business location based on some precise rules and formulas. The positive effects will be likely on:
• Your relationships
• Your money income
• Your flow of customers
• Your family life
• The development of your children
• Your wellbeing…
Feng Shui techniques have come to the western world in the last decades. Of course they might be witnessed when conducting business in China, but it is fair to say that this philosophy has “taken over the world” since the eighties. It is essential to go back to the traditional teachings of classical Feng Shui to get results however as this metascience has been very watered down in when coming to the west. The world of Feng Shui is a complex one and I invite you to discover more on the different schools and techniques through this site Spacessential.
