Feng Shui tips on the main entrance
Which entrance has the best Feng Shui for a flat?
The two aspects we consider here are:
1. The condominium or block entrance
2. The unit main door Let’s look at the condo entrance first.
If you see that the main entrance is:
• facing a pole
• obstructed by a nearby large tree
• hidden and not easily accessible
• always kept in the shadow
• cold and moldy etc.
then be careful. This will impact the quality of the Chi coming in.
At first sight we don’t feel like kissing someone showing bad neglected teeth and with a terrible breath. The Chi is the same! The Chi mouth should be welcoming and accessible.
• Look also at the more distant surroundings. Is there a lamp post, a sharp angle pointing toward the main entrance or an incoming road? They can all be source of Sha Chi.
• You should also try to avoid a building that has two main doors in a row, one on each side: in such case the Chi enters and leaves right away.
• Lifts have to be considered too. A lift at the centre of the building create a very unstable Chi, as the centre is an area that should be kept quiet and calm. One or several lifts directly facing the main entrance create the same problem as a staircase – the Chi has no time to gather in.
• Remember the concept of Ming Tan, or hall of light. A nice, welcoming and bright space to gather the Chi at the entrance of a building is what we are usually after in Feng Shui. The unit door.
• The unit door must answer the same requirement as a house door. It should be located in a good area and bring in the right Element for the people who live in.
• Ideally it should not be in a very narrow hallway, neither should it be facing another unit door.
• Most flat doors are a good example of having the main door on the opposite side of the main façade. This is the reason why traditional facing should not be based on the main door location, but rather on the façade.
• The Chi received by the main façade should be the first consideration, before the main door. It is best to choose to receive the right Element through your main façade rather than though your door.
