What is the best Feng Shui sleeping direction for me? Is there a good feng shui bed position ?

 

The right question should rather be: what is the best bed LOCATION for you? And I need to emphasize the YOU here: it must be calculated individually, trough your Bazi and personal Gua.

 

Most people wonder under which direction to sleep to have a “good Feng Shui”. However the proper way is to put your bed under the right Mountain and sector. The placement of bed is a major part of any Feng Shui audit.

 

Once again this cannot be advised without seeing your property and deciphering your chart. To summarize:

 

• Ideal bed position will be determined by your chart, or Bazi, through your affinity with one of the Element

 

• Ideally if we can match your best Element and your best sector based on your personal Gua, this is even better

 

• The house sector where the bedroom is will determine which energy, therefore which Element it receives

 

 

Can’t I just use my best direction as my bed direction?

 

The concept of best direction is determined through the personal Gua. As I’ve previously explained here (you must have been somewhere else while I was talking), your personal chart, called Bazi, can completely overwrite your Gua good directions. Therefore this is not a good idea to select your bed direction on this assumption only.

 

Even more, just based on the Gua association, your best direction might not be your best direction! It needs to be adapted to your age, purpose etc. The Sheng Chi direction is theoretically the best one; however it is not suited for an elderly person or a pregnant woman! Tricky isn’t it?

 

Furthermore you need to know the sector where the bedroom is located in your house, to be sure of which Element your receive. This is the same logic as with the front door. You might think that in putting your bed pointing to North you automatically receive the Water energy. However if your bedroom is located in the Northeast/East sector of your house,with a bed pointing North, you will not receive a Water energy anymore…

 

So more than ever to determine your bed position that has an impact on your whole life you need a proper Feng Shui consultation. Even more when you realize that you have to combine all those aspects with the analysis of your partner Bazi, and try to match both! When both partners need opposite Elements and sectors it becomes very tricky…

 

 

I always thought that North is the best direction?

 

This is an urban legend found in some cultures. Your best location and directions are based on your Bazi and personal Gua, and they are individual. North brings the Water energy that is seen as more calming than Wood, or Fire: but if Water clashes with your Bazi you are then up for a ride!
