The Mirrors in Feng Shui
Is it ok to have a mirror in the bedroom?
I have already touched this matter in Feng Shui bedroom, but here is a more detailed answer. In traditional Chinese culture, the soul/spirit is believed to leave the body during the sleep. Supposedly if it sees its own reflection it might be scared, and this is the reason why a mirror should not be reflecting your bed. If you believe in astral projection during the sleep, you might want to avoid having a mirror for the same reason.
However the belief that a mirror that reflects you and your partner creates “other people” symbolically, and that it can hurts your relationship, has not foundation in traditional Feng Shui to my knowledge. This is modern, Mc Feng Shui. The best is to have a mirror inside the door of the wardrobe, then problem solved!
Anyhow, it seems that modern Feng Shui (what a contradiction in term) is OBSESSED with mirrors, and their do and don’t. This is to blatantly hide a lack of substance. If someone talk too much about mirrors ask them about Bazi and the 24 Mountains then!
As for the famous "Ba Gua mirror", this is a nice artefact with a beautiful symbol. As a decorative item it is useful; as a cure however it has no special power. Remember that mirrors are used to attract by the way, not bounce the energy back!
