Do you call yourself a Feng Shui master?

 

This is an interesting question. I wish to explain my point of view on the matter and to clarify a few facts on “Feng Shui masters”.

 

Most of the time I define myself as a Feng Shui expert, or consultant, based in London UK. After a four years process of studies with a genuine Asian master, Master GK Ham, whom is part of the 2500 years old and well respected Han Wu Feng Shui lineage, I have certainly qualified to be an expert. My numerous practical cases have shown me the validity of the knowledge I’ve learned through my lineage.

 

However, when placed in a very competitive environment, I might call myself “Master” (on Twitter for example). I do it when everybody else does. In my opinion many of those so-called masters have done nothing to achieve such rank. Therefore being an “expert” when surrounded by people whom deemed themselves “masters” after the completion of an online course or after reading a few books is slightly odd! I consider myself that master is a lifetime achievement.

 

I am an expert because I was deemed good enough to learn from the best, to be initiated to sacred esoteric knowledge, and I have become very good at what I do. I do not teach, so at this point I usually don’t call or see myself as a “master”, even if technically I am close to this level. Be cautious when meeting a “master”, anyway. Nowadays your neighbour will become a “reiki master” after 3 courses at the local community centre!

 

It’s not about the title: it is whom you have learned from, and what your results are. In Chinese metaphysics the ONLY warranty is an historical lineage, not 20 online courses, books or studies. There are many Feng Shui practitioners and Feng shui experts on the market – not all have benefited from a proper training with a Chinese lineage.

 

As for the DIY part, by reading this site yourself, I hope you have understood that the Chinese metaphysics are a meta-science, a complex esoteric body of knowledge. By using the DIY approach without having learned for years from a Chinese lineage, you are disrespecting yourself, you are disrespecting those sacred knowledge, and you achieve nothing.

 

So skip the numerous scams that are the Feng Shui stores! For anything else in your life you call a specialist in for the skills you lack – a plumber, an electrician, an accountant, a doctor – why then should it be any different for Feng Shui?
