Feng Shui, feng sui, fung shui, fung sui, fung swai?
Feng Shui is the correct, westernized way to write the name of this discipline. feng sui, fung sui, fung swai are all misspelling. However depending of which romanisation system is used to translate the Chinese characters, the spelling fung shui can also be found and is correct, altough less common in the West. Don’t look for a “fung swai master”, you won’t find any! But if you are looking for a "Feng Shui" master or expert then you are on the right page.
What does Feng shui means?
Feng Shui means literally wind and Water. Why wind and Water? They represent two different aspects of the Chi.The wind carries the chi, while the Water retains it. Kan Yu is however the older and original name of Feng Shui. Kan Yu is difficult to translate but it correspond to the idea of "celestial" and "terrestial" – hence indicating that Feng Shui is about the influence of Heaven/astrology/astronomic forces and the influence of the Earth Chi itself on our lives.
